Using the Internet in the EPI Centre
All EPI Centre computer rooms have Internet access.
On the EPI Centre Macs three browsers are installed; Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Shortcuts are available in the program dock.
Through the UWE Portal, you can access the University e-mail system. The UWE Portal can be found at:
https://my.uwe.ac.uk
Remember to check your UWE e-mail, even if it is not your primary e-mail service. Useful notices will be sent to you from the many student services to this e-mail address. For example, the Library will contact you about holds you may have, or books that are due for return, or even overdue.
The Library services website can, of course, be accessed through the University website in the EPI Centre and at home. This gives you the chance to browse the Library catalogue and renew your books online.
The Library service can be found at:
http://www.uwe.ac.uk/library/
If you're searching for some information on the web the tendency is to 'google'. Other search engines are available of course, and using different search engines can produce different results, so try not to limit yourself to just the one. As well as it's own extensive catalogue of online resources, the Library also has a useful set of tutorials to aid efficient searching.
